Our Frequently asked Questions

We can see and treat you without a referral but to receive a medicare rebate you will need a referral from a GP, medical specialist or optometrist.

A referral from your GP or Optometrist is valid for 12 months while specialist referrals last for only 3 months. Your GP can write an indefinite referral if preferred for ongoing treatment of a chronic condition such as glaucoma or macular degeneration.

Aspect Eye Surgeons is a private clinic and therefore does not offer bulk billing. Costs will vary depending upon the problem being assessed or monitored and any investigations, procedures or treatments that are necessary.

We endeavour to be transparent and offer guidance on costs when your appointment is made. Please be aware however that there may be tests or treatments that are required but may not have been anticipated based upon the information contained within your referral. This may occasionally result in additional costs.

Private Health Insurance in most cases only covers treatment offered in hospital. Your clinic costs are therefore the same – whether or not you have private health cover. In the event that you require cataract or other surgery – we offer competitively priced options for self funding. In some cases surgery may be performed in our clinic procedure room which is a significantly lower cost option than using a private hospital. Please contact our staff for a more detailed idea of costs.

In the event that self funding is not an option, referral to a public hospital service can be facilitated.

Aspect Eye Surgeons endeavours to utilise the latest available technology to assist us in assessing and caring for our patients at the highest possible standard.

Our diagnostic equipment includes:

  • IOL master 700 with Callisto digital toric IOL alignment.
  • Pentacam AXL Wave – for total corneal mapping, optical biometry and corneal/whole eye aberrometry.
  • Humphrey Field Analyser
  • Zeiss Cirrus 6000 OCT with anterior and posterior segment imaging modules.

Therapeutic Technologies include:
